How it plays

How does Double Dragon II: The Revenge play?

The game uses a side-view perspective. Billy advances through linear stages, defeating waves of gang members, bosses, and other hazards before reaching the end of each area.

Players can walk, jump, punch, kick, grab stunned enemies, throw opponents, and use weapons found on the stage. Attacks must be timed around enemy formations rather than used continuously.

Progression is stage-based, with tougher enemies and more complex encounters appearing later. The objective is to clear the campaign while preserving limited health and lives.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Double Dragon II: The Revenge?

Watch enemy spacing instead of rushing into groups. Use jumps and attacks to separate opponents, then grab or throw stunned enemies when several attackers close in.

Save weapon use for dense encounters and bosses. Learn each boss's approach pattern, attack only after its recovery animation, and avoid being trapped against the edge of the screen.
