How it plays
Matches take place on a single two-dimensional arena. Players move horizontally, jump, block, and attack with punches, kicks, throws, and character-specific special moves.
Story mode sends the selected fighter through a sequence of battles, while versus mode supports direct matches. Winning rounds advances the player through the opponent roster; the goal is to deplete the rival’s life bar before time expires.
Plan your run
Learn the reach and recovery of each fighter’s normal attacks before relying on special moves. Keep enough distance to punish missed attacks, and use blocking rather than repeatedly jumping into the opponent.
In story battles, observe the opponent’s preferred attack range and save strong special attacks for confirmed openings. In versus play, vary timing so that the opponent cannot easily predict repeated projectiles or advancing attacks.

Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls is a one-on-one fighting game developed by Leland Interactive Media and published by Tradewest for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It adapts the Double Dragon setting into a competitive fighter rather than a scrolling beat ’em up, with Billy and Jimmy Lee facing a roster of martial artists and villains. The game offers arcade-style matches, a story-driven quest, and versus play. Its presentation and controls received mixed historical reception: the recognizable characters and colorful attacks appealed to some players, while critics often considered the fighting mechanics less polished than leading contemporary SNES fighters. The game is notable as a series spinoff that uses the Double Dragon name without following the traditional belt-scrolling format.
