How it plays

How does Dr. Mario 64 play?

Capsules fall into a bottle viewed from above. Rotate and position each capsule so that horizontal or vertical groups of at least three matching colors remove viruses and capsule segments.

Players can clear viruses in single-player stages, race another player, or compete in score-focused modes. Removing viruses opens space for further placements, while increasing speed and chained clears raise the difficulty and scoring potential.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Dr. Mario 64?

Prioritize opening the lower and central areas of the bottle before building tall stacks. Plan both colors of each capsule rather than placing only the immediately useful half.

Use chain reactions when possible, but avoid creating isolated segments that cannot be matched. In versus play, clear quickly and send disruptive garbage to restrict the opponent's space.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Keep the bottle low so later capsules remain easy to place.

  2. 2

Watch the next capsule and prepare both possible orientations.

  3. 3

In versus play, speed matters, but an unsafe stack can reverse the match quickly.
