Duke Nukem
The heavily armed protagonist, who travels through altered periods of history to stop an alien invasion.
How it plays
The game uses a first-person perspective. In the single-player campaign, Duke explores stages, collects weapons and ammunition, defeats alien enemies, activates switches, solves environmental puzzles, and reaches an exit or story objective.
Levels are arranged as a time-traveling sequence through different eras and locations. Progression comes from finding key items, opening routes, surviving enemy encounters, and acquiring more powerful weapons. A separate multiplayer mode provides competitive deathmatch-style play with selectable arenas and match settings.
Plan your run
Explore each area before moving on; switches, key items, and side passages can be easy to miss. Conserve powerful ammunition for large enemies and crowded encounters.
Use the environment defensively. Keep moving in open arenas, learn enemy attack patterns, and search rooms for armor, health, and ammunition before triggering major fights.

Before you begin

Save powerful weapons for bosses and dense enemy groups.
In multiplayer, use the level layout and available pickups rather than relying on one weapon.
Duke Nukem: Zero Hour is a science-fiction first-person shooter developed by Eurocom for the Nintendo 64 and published by GT Interactive. It places Duke Nukem in a time-traveling campaign against alien forces that have altered history and threatened Earth. The game combines traditional shooting with exploration, platforming, environmental puzzles, and a deliberately exaggerated action-comedy tone. Its campaign moves through distinct historical and futuristic settings, while multiplayer supports competitive matches for multiple players. Reception was generally favorable for its ambitious console presentation, varied stages, and humor, although reviewers also noted uneven controls and technical limitations typical of late Nintendo 64 shooters.
