How it plays

How does F-Zero X play?

Races are viewed from behind the machine in full 3D. The objective is to finish ahead of rival pilots while surviving sharp turns, jumps, barriers, and attacks.

Players steer, accelerate, brake, drift, use a limited boost after the opening lap, and can ram opponents. Each machine has different speed, acceleration, grip, and body strength values. Grand Prix events contain multiple tracks, while Time Attack and multiplayer provide alternate challenges.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play F-Zero X?

Choose a machine whose balance suits the course rather than selecting only for maximum speed. Enter turns early, release the accelerator when necessary, and use the boost on exits or long straightaways.

Protect the machine's body strength: repeated collisions can destroy it even when the machine remains competitive. Learn track boundaries and jump approaches in practice or Time Attack before attempting higher difficulty Grand Prix events.
