How it plays

How does F-Zero play?

The race is viewed from behind the machine, with the track expanding toward the screen through the SNES's Mode 7 perspective. The objective is to finish within the required position while managing speed, energy, and collisions.

Players select a machine and compete through leagues of multiple courses. Boost panels, jumps, barriers, mines, and rival vehicles shape each race. Completing a league unlocks higher difficulty levels, while running out of energy or falling from the track ends the attempt.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play F-Zero?

Learn each machine's strengths before choosing a league. The Blue Falcon is balanced, the Golden Fox accelerates well, the Wild Goose is durable, and the Fire Stingray has strong top speed but heavier handling.

Brake before tight turns, use the outer edge of the track carefully, and avoid unnecessary contact with rivals. Save boost energy for straights or the final part of a lap, and use recovery areas when your energy is low.
