How it plays
Matches take place in side-view arenas with two fighters sharing a single combat space. The objective is to deplete the opponent’s life bar before time expires, usually by winning the required number of rounds.
Players move, jump, crouch, attack, block, throw, and perform character-specific special moves. Arcade-style progression leads through a series of opponents and ends with a boss encounter, while versus play supports direct matches against another player.
Plan your run
Learn the spacing of each fighter’s normal attacks before relying on special moves. Blocking and punishing missed attacks is safer than attacking continuously, especially against later opponents.
Use jumps carefully, vary high and low attacks, and save the strongest moves for confirmed openings. In versus matches, watch the opponent’s habits and avoid repeating the same approach.

Fatal Fury: First Contact is a one-on-one fighting game developed and published by SNK for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. It adapts characters and ideas from the arcade Fatal Fury games into a compact handheld format, with simplified controls and a roster built for quick matches. Players choose a fighter, battle through a sequence of opponents, and use normal attacks, special moves, throws, and defensive techniques to win rounds. Its clear presentation and responsive controls were well received as an unusually capable portable fighting game, although its small screen and reduced mechanics distinguish it from the larger arcade releases.
