Advanced Variable Geo

How it plays
The player views the battlefield from above and scrolls continuously upward through seven stages. The objective is to destroy enemies, collect weapon power-ups, survive hazards, and defeat a boss at the end of each stage.
Different weapons change the ship's attack pattern, while support units can increase firepower. In addition to the main game, two- and five-minute Caravan modes focus on scoring as many points as possible within a fixed time limit.
Plan your run
Choose weapon power-ups according to the immediate formation rather than collecting every item automatically. Wide attacks are useful against scattered enemies, while concentrated fire is better for bosses and durable targets.
In Caravan mode, learn enemy-entry timing and prioritize large point targets without taking unnecessary risks. Preserve positioning space near the center, but move early when enemies or projectiles close off an escape route.
Before you begin
Learn the timing of each weapon power-up before committing to it.
Destroy enemies early when their formations can otherwise restrict movement.
Use Caravan mode to practice routes and scoring patterns.
Final Soldier is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up developed and published by Hudson Soft for the PC Engine. It is the third main entry in the Star Soldier series and places the player in a fighter battling through tightly arranged enemy formations and large mechanical bosses. The game emphasizes rapid shooting, weapon selection, survival, and score optimization rather than exploration. Its main campaign is joined by short Caravan modes designed for timed high-score competition. Final Soldier was well regarded for its responsive controls, dense but readable action, and polished audiovisual presentation, and it remains a notable PC Engine shooter.
