How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective across linear stages containing platforms, hazards, enemies, secrets, and boss arenas. Players guide one of four heroes, jumping between platforms, attacking foes, collecting items, and reaching the stage exit.
A two-player mode allows cooperative progression, while solo play lets the player switch among the available characters. The adventure advances through a world map and story stages, with new areas, minibosses, bosses, and character-specific abilities shaping progression.
Plan your run
Learn enemy patterns before committing to jumps, especially in stages with moving platforms or disappearing floors. Keep a safe distance from hazards and use each character's strengths rather than forcing every obstacle with the same hero.
In two-player mode, coordinate movement around narrow platforms and revive or assist your partner when possible. Explore side paths for useful items, but prioritize survival during boss fights; repeated attacks are usually less effective than short, deliberate openings.

Goemon's Great Adventure is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka and released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. It follows Goemon and his companions as they travel through a whimsical version of Japan to stop a supernatural threat and restore peace. The game emphasizes traditional platforming, close-range attacks, collectible items, boss encounters, and cooperative play for two players. Its colorful presentation, comic tone, varied stages, and support for simultaneous co-op made it a distinctive Nintendo 64 release. Critics generally praised its level design and charm, while noting that its camera and difficulty could be demanding.
