How it plays
Grandia uses a third-person exploration perspective. Players guide the party through towns, fields, ruins, and dungeons, speak with residents, search for items, and advance the story by reaching designated locations or completing events.
Battles are turn-based but actions are arranged on a time line. Characters can move, use normal attacks, magic, skills, items, or defensive commands. Interrupting an enemy during its preparation phase can cancel that action. Weapons and magic improve through use, while equipment, skill books, and party growth expand tactical options.
Plan your run
Watch the time line rather than selecting commands blindly. Use cancel-capable attacks or skills when an enemy is preparing a dangerous action, and spread targets when several foes are vulnerable.
Train weapon and magic types through regular use, maintain a balanced party, and keep healing items available. Explore side paths in dungeons for equipment and skill books, but save before major story events and boss encounters.
