How it plays
The game uses a top-down perspective on grid-based arenas. Players move through stages, place bombs, and use the resulting cross-shaped explosions to destroy blocks, defeat enemies, open routes, and activate switches.
Story mode progresses through themed worlds with regular rooms, special challenges, and boss encounters. Power-ups can improve bomb range, bomb capacity, movement, or other abilities. Battle mode places players in enclosed arenas where the last surviving Bomberman wins; matches can support up to ten local players with compatible multitap equipment.
Plan your run
Use bombs to shape the arena rather than simply destroy every block. Place a bomb, move behind cover, and leave yourself a clear escape route before the fuse expires.
Collect range and capacity upgrades carefully, but avoid becoming trapped by your own expanding explosions. In battles, watch opponents' bomb timers, exploit chain reactions, and use walls to control the routes between players.

Before you begin
Always identify an escape path before placing a bomb.
Chain reactions can clear large areas but can also make movement dangerous.
In Battle Mode, patience and positioning are often safer than rushing toward an opponent.
Saturn Bomberman is an action maze game developed and published by Hudson Soft for the Sega Saturn. It combines a single-player adventure with competitive arena battles built around timed bombs and destructible terrain. In the story mode, Bomberman travels through themed areas, defeats enemies, collects power-ups, and confronts bosses. The battle mode supports large local multiplayer matches, making the Saturn version especially notable for group play with the appropriate hardware. The game was well received for its colorful presentation, responsive mechanics, generous content, and unusually high multiplayer capacity. Its core rules remain easy to understand, while chain reactions, item management, and arena layout give experienced players considerable room for strategy.
