Watch the opponent’s approach before committing to an attack. Short attacks are safer when fighters are close, while a mistimed heavy technique can leave the player open.

Learn which attacks can be blocked or avoided, keep enough space to react, and use defensive timing rather than repeatedly attacking. In a long match, preserving life is usually more valuable than forcing a risky exchange.
