The game uses a top-down, angled view of compact floating courses. Each hole begins with Kirby acting as a ball; the objective is to defeat enemies and sink Kirby into the goal with the fewest shots.

Players aim a shot, set its strength with a timing meter, and can influence the roll with Kirby's movement and copy abilities. Enemies can grant abilities when struck, while slopes, bumpers, water, and other hazards alter the ball's path. The solo game progresses through a series of themed holes, while multiplayer supports competitive rounds on selected courses.

Study the entire course before shooting. Identify the enemy order, the safest route to the goal, and surfaces that can provide useful rebounds. A direct shot is not always best; bank shots can avoid hazards and reduce the number of strokes.

Use copy abilities deliberately rather than triggering them immediately. Account for slopes and momentum, and practice the timing meter on open sections before attempting narrow routes. In multiplayer, prioritize reliable positioning because a risky shortcut can give the opponent an easy finish.
