How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. Players guide Kirby through distinct subgames, moving across stages, defeating enemies, collecting items, solving simple environmental problems, and fighting bosses.
Kirby can fly, inhale foes, swallow them, and copy selected abilities. Most abilities can also be turned into a helper controlled by a second player or by the computer. Progress is organized by completing individual adventures rather than by a single linear map, and several modes unlock or become available as earlier challenges are finished.
Plan your run
Learn which copied abilities suit each stage rather than relying on one power. Sword, Beam, Plasma, and Jet cover different ranges and movement situations.
Use helpers to divide enemy pressure in multiplayer, but remember that computer helpers can be unreliable around hazards. In The Great Cave Offensive, record the locations of switches and treasure rooms; some treasures require returning with a particular ability or helper.

Kirby Super Star is a 2D platform-action game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Instead of presenting one long campaign, it combines several shorter adventures with different objectives, including traditional platforming, treasure hunting, racing, and boss-focused challenges. Kirby can inhale enemies, copy many of their abilities, and create a helper from a copied power, giving the game a flexible cooperative style. Its colorful presentation, responsive controls, and varied structure were widely praised. The game became one of the most highly regarded Kirby releases and is often cited as a standout example of late-era SNES design.
