Klonoa
The series protagonist and a playable beach-volleyball competitor.
How it plays
Matches are viewed from a side-oriented court perspective and are played by two teams of two. The objective is to send the ball over the net and make it land in the opposing court, while preventing the other team from doing the same.
Players move around the sand, receive incoming shots, set up attacks, and return the ball. Match progress is determined by points and victories rather than by exploration or equipment-based progression. The game focuses on direct competitive play and character matchups.
Plan your run
Stay beneath the ball whenever possible so the next touch can be controlled rather than chased. Use the first contact to stabilize the rally, then prepare the partner for a deliberate return.
Watch the opponent's positioning before attacking. A safe shot into open court is often more reliable than repeatedly attempting a difficult angle, especially during longer rallies.

Klonoa Beach Volley: Saikyou Team Kettei-sen! is a competitive beach-volleyball game developed and published by Namco for the original PlayStation. It places Klonoa and other characters from the series into two-on-two matches rather than the platforming adventures associated with the franchise. Players position their team, return the ball, and use timing and teamwork to win points across short matches. The game was released in Japan in 2002 as a character-driven sports spin-off. Its appeal comes from accessible arcade-style play, colorful presentation, and the chance to see familiar Klonoa characters in a different genre, although its limited release makes it less widely known than the main games.
