How it plays
Stages are viewed from a side-on perspective, although the camera and paths can shift through three-dimensional environments. Klonoa runs, jumps, grabs enemies with the Wind Bullet, and throws them at other targets or uses them for extra jumps.
The adventure is divided into Visions containing regular stages, checkpoints, collectibles, and boss encounters. Progress comes from completing each Vision, learning enemy properties, finding Dream Crystals, and rescuing captured villagers. Certain optional collectibles reward careful exploration.
Plan your run
Learn how each enemy behaves before throwing it. A captured enemy can usually be used as a projectile, while some enemies provide a second jump or other movement opportunity.
Explore beyond the obvious route to find Dream Crystals and villagers. In boss fights, prioritize learning the attack pattern and keep a throwable enemy available for the next opening.

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile is a 2.5D action-platformer developed and published by Namco for the original PlayStation. The player controls Klonoa, a cat-like Dream Traveler who investigates mysterious events affecting the dream world of Phantomile. Its stages combine side-scrolling movement with polygonal environments, environmental puzzles, collectible Vision fragments, and enemy-based abilities. Klonoa captures enemies with the Wind Bullet and uses them to attack, solve puzzles, and reach higher areas. The game was well received for its inventive mechanics, expressive presentation, memorable music, and unusual blend of 2D platforming with 3D visuals.
