How it plays
Matches place two teams on a single dodgeball court. Players move around their own side, throw the ball at opposing players, catch or avoid incoming throws, and try to eliminate the other team before losing their own players. The roster is organized into named national or regional teams with different lineups and abilities.
The game includes solo competition and versus play. Progression in the solo game comes from facing successive teams rather than from character-level development; winning advances the tournament route, while local multiplayer lets two players compete using the available teams.
Plan your run
Use the court edges to reduce the angles available to opposing throwers, but do not stay stationary: a direct hit can quickly remove a player. Catching a throw is safer than repeatedly trying to outrun it when the ball is approaching at close range.
Against stronger teams, target one opponent at a time and keep the ball in your team's possession. Watch the opposing lineup's position before throwing, because a predictable straight shot is easier to evade or catch than a throw made after forcing the target toward a boundary.
Meet the cast
The main Kunio-kun protagonist and captain associated with the Nekketsu team.
A recurring Kunio-kun rival who appears among the game's named dodgeball players.
Before you begin
Keep moving when an opponent has possession; standing in the center makes direct throws easier to land.
Use catches and evasive movement instead of relying only on offensive throws.
In versus play, agree on teams before the match because team attributes and lineups differ.
Kunio-kun no Dodge Ball dayo Zenin Shuugou! is a Super Famicom dodgeball game developed and published by Technos Japan in 1993. It uses the Kunio-kun cast in a rough, action-oriented interpretation of international dodgeball rather than a strict simulation. Teams throw powerful shots, catch or evade incoming balls, and use contact attacks to disrupt opponents. The game is designed for both solo competition and local multiplayer on one console. Its colorful character designs, exaggerated impact effects, and arcade-like pace fit the broader Kunio-kun style. The Japanese release is remembered as a substantial home-console continuation of Technos Japan's dodgeball concept, although it remained much less widely distributed outside Japan.
