Akemi Nakajima
A gifted computer programmer and the central human protagonist of the Megami Tensei story.
How it plays
The game is divided into two connected remake scenarios based on the first and second Megami Tensei adventures. Players explore first-person mazes, towns, temples, towers, and other facilities while searching for routes, items, keys, and story events.
Combat is turn-based. The party can attack, cast spells, use items, recruit demons through negotiation, and fuse demons to create stronger allies. Progress depends on gaining experience, improving equipment, managing magic, and learning the layout of increasingly complex dungeon areas.
Plan your run
Map every major dungeon and record locked doors, one-way passages, healing points, and teleport locations. Returning to town regularly is safer than pushing forward with depleted magic or limited healing items.
Use demon negotiation and fusion actively. A newly recruited demon may be useful for a specific spell or resistance even when its statistics are modest, while fusion can maintain a stronger and more versatile party. Check enemy weaknesses before spending scarce MP.
Meet the cast
A gifted computer programmer and the central human protagonist of the Megami Tensei story.
A powerful heroine who accompanies Nakajima and uses spiritual abilities in the struggle against demonic forces.
Before you begin
Save frequently and keep several rotating save files before entering major dungeons.
Use negotiation to obtain demons with useful elemental spells and resistances.
Do not ignore equipment upgrades; ordinary attacks remain important when MP is limited.
Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei is a Super Famicom role-playing game developed and published by Atlus. It remakes the first two Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei titles, combining them into a single package with updated graphics, sound, interface design, and balance. The game follows teenage computer programmer Akemi Nakajima and Yumiko Shirasagi as they confront demons and supernatural powers in a modern world and its connected labyrinths. Exploration uses a first-person dungeon perspective, while battles are command-based and turn-oriented. The release is particularly notable for preserving the series’ early demon negotiation, summoning, and fusion systems. It is regarded as an important historical bridge between the original computer-era games and later console Megami Tensei releases.
