How it plays
Mickey moves through six side-scrolling stages, defeating enemies, collecting items, and reaching a boss at the end of each area. The normal outfit lets him attack with a short-range cape strike, while the three special costumes provide different tools for particular hazards.
The Magician throws projectiles, the Fireman sprays water and can interact with flames, and the Mountain Climber uses a grappling hook to reach higher places. Costume changes are selected between stages, so choosing the right outfit is part of progression. A password system allows the adventure to be continued after a game over or later session.
Plan your run
Use the costume selection screen to match Mickey’s abilities to the next stage. The Fireman is especially useful where flames or fire-based obstacles appear, while the Mountain Climber’s grappling hook helps with vertical routes and elevated platforms.
Conserve health by attacking enemies from a safe distance with the Magician’s projectiles and by learning boss patterns before committing to close attacks. Search side paths for hearts and other recovery items, then record the password shown for continuing later.

The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse is a 1992 Disney action-platform game developed by Capcom for the Super Nintendo. Mickey sets out to rescue Pluto after Pete carries him away, traveling through six colorful stages inspired by forests, caves, ships, and other storybook locations. Its central idea is costume-based play: Mickey can switch among the Magician, Fireman, and Mountain Climber outfits, each changing his attack and movement options. The game supports one player and presents a polished, approachable alternative to Capcom’s other character platformers of the period. Contemporary and later players have generally praised its animation, music, responsive controls, and cooperative-feeling costume variety, while noting that the adventure is relatively short and less demanding than some platform games.
