How it plays

How does Mario Party 2 play?

Players move around a themed board by rolling a numbered Dice Block. Coins are used for purchases and events, while the first player to reach a Star and pay its changing price gains it. Board spaces can alter coin totals, move characters, trigger duels, or redirect the route.

After most turns, a minigame begins. The rules and teams depend on the colors of the spaces occupied by the players. Winning minigames provides coins, and the player with the most Stars at the end of the selected turn count wins. Solo players can also practice minigames and play a dedicated minigame mode.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Mario Party 2?

Plan around the Star's current location rather than simply choosing the shortest route. Preserve coins for Stars and useful items, and consider how a route affects the next turn.

Pay attention to space colors, item shops, junctions, and event spaces. In minigames, learn the objective before rushing, and in team games coordinate movement with your partner. The Bonus Stars at the end can reward play styles beyond raw coin totals.
