How it plays

How does Mario's Tennis play?

Matches use a behind-the-player perspective. The objective is to serve, return the ball, and win points through standard tennis scoring while aiming shots toward open parts of the court.

Players move their character horizontally, select a shot with the action buttons, and adjust timing and direction with the D-pad. The game supports singles and doubles-style play, along with tournament progression in which later matches become more demanding.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Mario's Tennis?

Watch the opponent's position before choosing a direction. Aiming away from the opponent is usually more effective than repeatedly hitting toward the center.

Use short exchanges to learn the timing of normal shots and lobs. In tournament play, prioritize safe returns until a clear opening appears, then target the far corner.
