How it plays
The game uses a third-person perspective. Mega Man explores Kattelox Island, talks with residents, accepts story objectives, and enters ruins or other combat areas to recover refractors and advance the investigation.
Combat centers on the Mega Buster, a lock-on target, jumping, and movement around enemies. Special weapons can be found or purchased and upgraded with parts. Progress is divided between town investigations, story events, ruin stages, boss encounters, and equipment improvements.
Plan your run
Explore each ruin carefully and look for side paths, treasure chests, and refractor deposits before returning to town. Selling or collecting materials can help fund weapon upgrades and support items.
Upgrade the Mega Buster's power, range, and energy when possible, but keep money for essential special-weapon parts. Lock on while moving around bosses, avoid standing directly in front of attacks, and use the environment for cover when available.
Talk to residents after major story events. Some optional errands and items become available only after the town changes or after a new ruin is opened.

Before you begin
Search ruins thoroughly; important parts and money are often off the main route.
Use lock-on movement to circle enemies rather than trading direct hits.
Return to Roll when you have new parts so equipment can be developed or upgraded.
Mega Man 64 is Capcom Production Studio 2's Nintendo 64 version of Mega Man Legends, a 3D action-adventure game with third-person shooting and platforming. Players control Mega Man Volnutt, a teenage Digger who explores ancient ruins, searches for refractor energy, and protects the island of Kattelox from the Bonne family and a dangerous ruin system. The game combines town exploration, dungeon-crawling, ranged combat, jumping, and equipment upgrades. Its character-focused story and shift from side-scrolling action earned generally favorable attention, although reviewers also noted the fixed camera, slower movement, and simplified controls compared with some other 3D action games. Mega Man 64 is notable as the North American Nintendo 64 adaptation of the PlayStation game Mega Man Legends.
