How it plays

How does Neon Genesis Evangelion play?

The game alternates between story presentation and battle scenarios viewed from changing third-person and fixed perspectives. Objectives vary by encounter, including defeating an Angel, surviving an attack, protecting a target, or completing a timed sequence.

Players move an Eva, attack nearby enemies, manage positioning, and follow scenario instructions. Progression is primarily chapter-based rather than experience-based; completing events unlocks later sections and advances the anime-inspired narrative.

What is the best way to play Neon Genesis Evangelion?

Read the objective before attacking. Several encounters are won by surviving, defending, or reaching a position rather than simply dealing damage.

Stay close to the intended target, avoid wasting time on irrelevant enemies, and learn each scenario's movement and attack timing through repetition. Story choices and event outcomes can affect the route through the game.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Treat each battle as a scenario with specific conditions, not as a standard arena fight.

  2. 2

Watch for timing prompts and scripted events before committing to an attack.

  3. 3

Save between completed sections when possible, because some encounters require memorization.
