How it plays
The game uses a top-down perspective. The player explores an overworld and several labyrinths, defeats enemies with a sword, collects equipment and consumable items, and searches for passages, keys, and upgrades.
Progression is based on discovering new tools and improving survivability rather than gaining experience through a conventional level system. Dungeons contain rooms, traps, puzzles, treasures, and boss encounters. The main objective is to advance through the world, overcome each labyrinth, and stop the supernatural threat at the end of the adventure.
Plan your run
Search the overworld carefully for entrances, villagers, hidden routes, and useful items before entering a new labyrinth.
In dungeons, map unexplored rooms methodically and conserve healing items for bosses. Use the sword from a safe distance when possible, and revisit earlier areas after obtaining new equipment because some paths and rewards may only then become accessible.

Neutopia II is a top-down action-adventure game with action RPG elements, developed and published by Hudson Soft for the PC Engine. It follows a young hero investigating a new threat in a fantasy world shaped by labyrinths, monsters, and hidden treasures. The game emphasizes real-time sword combat, item use, exploration, and gradual improvement through equipment and discoveries. Its structure resembles a traditional console adventure: players travel across an overworld, locate entrances and clues, and clear dungeon areas filled with puzzles and enemies. It was generally regarded as a solid continuation of the original Neutopia formula, though its similarities to earlier adventure games made it less distinctive than some contemporaries.
