How it plays
How does NHL '94 play?
Matches are viewed from an overhead angle. The objective is to outscore the opposing team during regulation time by moving the puck through passing plays, carrying it into the offensive zone, and taking shots around the goaltender.
Players can skate, pass, shoot, body-check, poke-check, change the controlled skater, and use a speed burst. Exhibition and playoff games provide shorter sessions, while season play tracks standings and progresses through a complete schedule. Line changes, penalties, faceoffs, and period-by-period scoring add structure to each game.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play NHL '94?
Use short passes to move the defense out of position rather than carrying the puck directly into traffic. Approach the offensive zone with support, then shoot from angles that can create rebounds or passing opportunities.
On defense, switch to the skater nearest the puck and avoid chasing too aggressively. Poke-checks are safer when positioned alongside the puck carrier, while body checks are most effective near the boards. Protect the slot and watch for cross-ice passes.
