Pac-Man
The protagonist, whose movement and reactions are guided indirectly by the player.
Documented for this version
D-pad | Move the cursor Aim at objects and characters in the scene. |
|---|---|
A | Fire the slingshot Shoot the selected point or object. |
The game uses indirect cursor-based control rather than direct Pac-Man movement.
How it plays
The game presents a side-on view of branching environments. Pac-Man walks automatically or reacts to events while the player uses a cursor to point at objects, enemies, switches, and useful scenery.
The player fires the slingshot to interact with the surroundings, distract threats, and influence Pac-Man's mood and behavior. Short missions are connected by a central world map, and successful solutions open new routes and story situations.
Plan your run
Observe each scene before firing. Many objects have different effects depending on timing and direction, so avoid repeatedly shooting at random targets.
Use the slingshot to remove immediate hazards or create a safe path, then watch Pac-Man's reaction. If a solution seems blocked, revisit earlier areas and look for a newly accessible route or object.

Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures is a side-scrolling adventure game developed and published by Namco for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Rather than directly controlling Pac-Man, the player guides him through animated scenes with a cursor and a slingshot. The goal is to solve environmental problems, protect Pac-Man from hazards, and help his family complete everyday tasks. Its nontraditional interface, expressive character animation, and comic slapstick tone distinguish it from the arcade games. Reception was generally mixed to positive, with praise for its personality and presentation but criticism of its sometimes opaque puzzles and indirect controls.
