How it plays
Panels descend into the playfield, and the player shifts and arranges them to create matching groups. Completed arrangements activate bombs, clear panels, and can produce chains that send pressure to the opponent.
The main progression is stage-based. Single-player battles introduce opponents with different patterns and increasing difficulty, while versus play emphasizes timing, efficient clearing, and making larger chains. The player must manage the rising stack before it reaches the top.
Plan your run
Build chains instead of clearing every panel immediately. Keep the lower field organized, watch the height of the stack, and preserve useful bomb panels for a larger reaction.
In versus play, quick clears are useful for survival, but well-prepared chains create stronger attacks. Avoid filling the center and leave room to adjust falling panels.

Panic Bomber is a puzzle-action game developed and published by Hudson Soft for the Nintendo Virtual Boy. It places Bomberman in a falling-block battle system rather than a traditional maze, requiring players to arrange bomb panels and trigger chain reactions. The game can be played as a single-player challenge through increasingly demanding stages or as a competitive match against computer opponents. Its stereoscopic presentation gives the playfield a distinctive sense of depth, although the Virtual Boy's limited library and small audience kept the game relatively obscure. Contemporary interest has generally focused on its inventive Bomberman-themed puzzle mechanics and colorful presentation, while opinions vary on the hardware's viewing comfort.
