How it plays
How does Pipe Dream play?
Pipe Dream uses a single-screen, top-down grid. A starting pipe and a stream of upcoming pieces determine the route, while the player moves a cursor around the board, rotates suitable pieces, and places them to extend the network.
Each level requires the completed pipe to reach the minimum length before the flow starts. Connected sections score according to their length, and later boards introduce tighter layouts and less forgiving placement. There is no character movement, combat, or conventional exploration; progression comes from clearing successive puzzle boards and managing the available grid space.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play Pipe Dream?
Plan around the starting pipe and preserve open cells in front of the route rather than filling the nearest empty square. Watch the previewed next piece before committing, and use straight pieces to delay difficult turns when the route is still flexible.
Build loops only when they keep several exits available. Before the flow begins, check that every connection is aligned and that the required minimum length can be reached without crossing blocked spaces.
Before you begin
What should you know before playing?
- 1
Keep the route away from board edges until the next pieces make the direction safer.
- 2
Use the preview queue to reserve spaces for turns and intersections.
- 3
A short valid route is safer than a long route that depends on one exact piece.
