Chell
The mostly silent test subject controlled by the player.
How it plays
The player views test chambers from a first-person perspective and uses portals to move between surfaces, redirect momentum, reach platforms, and manipulate objects. Each chamber is an enclosed puzzle space with a specific exit objective.
Progression follows Portal's test-chamber structure. Solutions depend on observation, timing, spatial reasoning, and understanding how portals interact with movement and physics. The project is a demake rather than a standard Nintendo 64 commercial release, so its documented scope and feature set may differ from the original Portal.
Plan your run
Study the whole chamber before placing portals. Look for portal-compatible surfaces, then plan the route around momentum, height, and object placement.
When a solution fails, change one variable at a time. Preserve useful portal positions and use repeated attempts to learn the timing of jumps, drops, and interactions.

The mostly silent test subject controlled by the player.
The artificial intelligence overseeing the Aperture Science testing environment.
Before you begin
Inspect walls and floors for surfaces that accept portals.
Use momentum and portal placement together instead of treating portals only as doors.
Treat the project as an unofficial demake whose available content may vary by build.
Portal 64 is an unofficial fan-made Nintendo 64 demake of Portal, developed by James Lambert. It is a first-person puzzle game built around the Aperture Science portal technology, with the player solving spatial and physics-based challenges rather than defeating conventional enemies. The project recreates the central ideas of Portal within the technical limits of Nintendo's 64-bit console, including low-resolution visuals and simplified presentation. Portal 64 attracted considerable attention among retro-development and fan-project communities because of its ambitious hardware target and recognizable mechanics. Its development history and availability have changed over time, so a single verified commercial release date or publisher is not established.
