How it plays

How does Puyo Puyo 4: Car-kun to Issho play?

Puyos fall into a vertical two-column playfield from a side-on perspective. The player moves and rotates each pair, matches four or more same-colored Puyos, and uses the resulting chain to clear space and attack an opponent with garbage Puyos.

The main adventure is structured around battles against computer-controlled opponents, with additional versus play available for competitive matches. Story encounters use special powers that can alter the board or chain opportunities, while normal play depends on planning color connections, avoiding a blocked field, and exploiting chain timing.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Puyo Puyo 4: Car-kun to Issho?

Build chains from the bottom upward and leave room for falling pairs to complete the setup. Avoid making isolated matches unless clearing them immediately prevents the field from becoming dangerous.

In versus play, watch the opponent's incoming garbage and try to extend a chain rather than sending small attacks repeatedly. Story-mode special abilities can change the best approach, so use them to create space or convert a prepared setup into a larger attack.
