How it plays
Players control falling pairs of Puyos from a side-on view. The goal is to align four or more Puyos of the same color, clear them, and use resulting chain reactions to attack an opponent or advance through a stage.
The game includes a story-focused single-player progression and competitive multiplayer modes. Puyo Puyo Sun rules add Sun Puyos, which can produce larger attacks when cleared. Players rotate and position pairs, manage the height of their stack, and deliberately set up multi-step chains.
Plan your run
Build chains rather than clearing isolated groups whenever the board allows it. Keep the lower part of the well organized and leave room for a controlled setup.
Watch the opponent’s nuisance-Puyo indicator before committing to a long chain. In multiplayer, a short defensive clear can prevent the stack from becoming unmanageable, while a prepared chain is usually more valuable than hurried single clears.

Before you begin
Plan the first connection so later falling Puyos can continue the chain.
Avoid filling one side of the well too high unless it is part of a deliberate setup.
Use multiplayer practice to learn chain timing and nuisance-Puyo pressure.
Editorial context
A colorful and approachable Japanese Nintendo 64 puzzle game with substantial depth for players who enjoy chaining.
Puyo Puyo Sun 64 is a Nintendo 64 falling-block puzzle game developed and published by Compile. It is a Nintendo 64 version of Puyo Puyo Sun, adding the platform’s multiplayer capabilities to the series’ chain-building formula. Players drop colored Puyos into a narrow well, connect matching pieces, and clear them to send nuisance Puyos to opponents. The game is presented with a cheerful fantasy story featuring Arle and other recurring characters. Its quick matches, accessible rules, and deeper chain system made it a well-regarded entry among Japanese Puyo Puyo releases.
