How it plays
The game uses a third-person perspective. Rayman explores distinct environments, defeats Robo-Pirates, rescues imprisoned Teensies, collects Lums, and searches for access routes and switches.
Progression is structured around a world map and individual stages. Silver Lums grant new powers, while rescued Teensies open later areas and bonus challenges. Combat uses Rayman's ranged punches, and movement includes jumping, swimming, climbing, gliding, and riding special vehicles.
Plan your run
Explore each stage carefully before leaving. Rescuing Teensies and collecting Silver Lums is useful not only for completion but also for opening later routes and abilities.
Use charged punches against tougher enemies, keep moving around ranged attackers, and look for alternate paths above or below the main route. Return to earlier areas after obtaining new powers, since several collectibles are intentionally inaccessible at first.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape is a 3D platform adventure developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft. Rayman must free the Glade of Dreams after the Robo-Pirates invade, destroy the Heart of the World, and imprison its inhabitants. Exploration, combat, platforming, and collectible hunting are combined across interconnected stages, with new abilities expanding access to earlier areas. The Nintendo 64 version adapts the original adventure to cartridge hardware while retaining its colorful worlds and cinematic presentation. Critics generally praised the game for its imaginative level design, expressive animation, varied abilities, and strong atmosphere, although some versions have technical compromises compared with more powerful platforms.
