How it plays
The player explores police stations, laboratories, sewers, and other locations from fixed camera angles. The main objectives are to find keys and tools, solve environmental puzzles, manage limited ammunition, and reach an escape route.
Leon and Claire each have a primary scenario, followed by a linked second scenario. Their campaigns contain different weapons, story scenes, supporting characters, and routes. Saving uses typewriters and ink ribbons, while the inventory imposes strict space limits.
Combat relies on positioning, aiming, conserving ammunition, and choosing when to flee. The game progresses through locked areas, puzzle solutions, boss encounters, and scripted discoveries.
Plan your run
Conserve ammunition by avoiding isolated zombies when the route allows it. Search every room carefully, but leave unnecessary items in storage boxes to preserve inventory space.
Combine herbs and ammunition only when useful, and keep at least one healing item before major exploration sections. Learn enemy positioning and use narrow corridors carefully, since turning around can be difficult.
Use the scenario order deliberately: completing one character's first scenario unlocks the corresponding second scenario for the other character.
