Ichiro Ogami
The Imperial Assault Force captain and the player's viewpoint character.
How it plays
The player views Tokyo and other locations from a first-person adventure perspective, selecting dialogue and investigating scenes. Ogami's responses affect trust with the heroines and can change conversations, events, and battle performance.
Battles use a grid-based, turn-oriented system. Players move steam-powered mecha, attack enemies, defend, use special techniques, and manage action points across scenario maps. The campaign alternates between story chapters and tactical missions, with progress and relationships carrying forward through the adventure.
Plan your run
Read conversations carefully and consider relationship effects before choosing responses. Building trust can improve cooperation and unlock character-focused events.
In battles, spend action points deliberately: movement, attacks, defense, and special techniques all compete for the same turn economy. Protect damaged units, use terrain when available, and coordinate adjacent allies for stronger combined attacks.

Sakura Wars 2: Thou Shalt Not Die is a hybrid visual novel, adventure game, and tactical role-playing game developed by Red Company and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn. Set in an alternate 1920s Tokyo, it follows Imperial Assault Force captain Ichiro Ogami and the Flower Division as they defend the city from supernatural and political threats. Most of the game is presented through conversations, investigations, and relationship-building choices, while major conflicts shift to turn-based tactical battles. The game was praised in Japan for its animated presentation, character writing, music, and stronger production values, and it became one of the Saturn's most notable story-driven releases.
