How it plays

How does Secret of Evermore play?

The game uses a top-down perspective. The boy and his dog explore four major regions, fight enemies in real time, collect equipment, and solve environmental puzzles while pursuing a way home.

The boy uses melee and ranged weapons, while the dog can change form and attack according to the current region. Alchemy recipes provide offensive, defensive, and utility effects. Progression comes from new weapons, armor, alchemy ingredients, dog forms, and story events.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Secret of Evermore?

Explore side paths before leaving each region, since ingredients, equipment, and optional supplies are easy to miss.

Save alchemy ingredients for bosses and difficult encounters. Upgrade the dog’s form when the story permits, and keep both melee and ranged weapons trained so that enemies with different attack ranges are manageable.
