How it plays
The game uses a top-down, isometric battlefield divided into movement squares. Players direct Medion's army, positioning units, attacking enemies, casting spells, using items, and exploiting terrain and class abilities to complete battle objectives.
Between battles, the party explores towns and routes, speaks with characters, shops for equipment, and manages promotion and equipment choices. Experience improves units over time, while the scenario's decisions and surviving characters contribute to the wider Shining Force III storyline.
Plan your run
Protect weaker units by keeping them behind durable front-line fighters and by checking enemy movement ranges before advancing. Concentrate attacks to remove dangerous enemies rather than spreading damage across the entire opposing force.
Maintain a balanced roster of physical attackers, healers, and spellcasters. Visit towns after major battles, upgrade equipment regularly, and preserve healing resources for objectives that require sustained combat.

Shining Force III Scenario 2: Target: Child of God is a tactical role-playing game developed by Camelot Software Planning and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn. It is the second chapter of the three-part Shining Force III project, following Medion and his forces as political tensions and religious conflict spread across the continent. Battles combine grid-based movement, character classes, equipment, and experience-driven growth with exploration between encounters. Scenario 2 was released in Japan in 1998 and was never officially localized for Western markets. It is regarded by Saturn and strategy-RPG enthusiasts as an ambitious continuation, particularly for its connected scenarios, animated presentation, and detailed world-building.
