How it plays

How does Smash Remix play?

Matches take place on two-dimensional or pseudo-three-dimensional platforms viewed from a fixed side-on perspective. Players attack, recover from launches, use defensive movement, and collect items while trying to increase opponents' damage and force them off the stage.

The game supports multiplayer battles and single-player challenges based on the original Smash 64 structure. Characters have normal attacks, special moves, grabs, shields, jumps, and recovery options. Unlockable content and expanded modes vary by version of the project.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Smash Remix?

Keep opponents near the edge after raising their damage, but avoid overcommitting while attempting a knockout. Use shields and grabs to interrupt predictable attacks, and preserve a jump or recovery option before being launched.

Learn each character's recovery distance and safest landing options. In multiplayer, watch for attacks aimed at another player and punish the recovery or landing that follows.
