How it plays
Players choose a fighter and battle in platform-based arenas. Attacks increase an opponent’s damage percentage; higher percentages make characters travel farther when struck. A player wins by knocking opponents off the stage or by meeting the selected mode’s objective.
The game supports standard multiplayer battles and additional modes supplied by the project. Fighters use normal attacks, special moves, jumps, shields, grabs, items, and stage layouts to control space. Unlockable content and expanded character and stage selections provide progression beyond the original Nintendo 64 release.
Plan your run
Learn each fighter’s recovery and use the platforms to vary approach angles. Prioritize positioning near the stage center, where missed attacks are safer and recovery options are easier to cover.
Watch the opponent’s damage percentage: at high damage, choose attacks that launch reliably, while at low damage, use quick attacks and grabs to begin combos. Practice shielding, grabbing, and edge recovery before relying on advanced techniques.
Meet the cast
A balanced all-rounder with reliable ground tools and straightforward aerial pressure.
A spacing-focused fighter who uses projectiles to control mid-range engagements.
A fast, highly mobile character known for strong combos and recovery.
A high-speed close-range attacker with explosive punish potential.
Before you begin
Use training or repeated local matches to learn recovery distances and knockback.
Keep track of stage edges; controlling the center is usually safer than chasing every attack.
Experiment with the expanded roster because movement speed, recovery, and weight vary substantially.
Smash Remix is a fan-made fighting game modification for the Nintendo 64, developed by the Smash Remix Team from the original Super Smash Bros. It preserves the series’ platform-fighting foundation while adding characters, stages, modes, and other content inspired by later entries and related Nintendo games. Matches are played in side-view arenas where fighters attack, launch, and recover against one another rather than depleting a conventional life bar. The project has been widely recognized within the Nintendo 64 homebrew and Super Smash Bros. communities for substantially extending the original game while retaining its visual style and hardware limitations.
