How it plays

How does Sonic Chaos play?

The game uses a side-view perspective. The player moves through several themed zones, reaches the goal at the end of each act, collects rings, defeats enemies, and avoids hazards. Checkpoints, springs, monitors, and occasional water or vertical sections shape the routes.

Sonic is the faster character, while Tails can use his tails to fly for a short time. Progress is based on completing acts and collecting Chaos Emeralds hidden or awarded through special sections. Losing all rings and being hit again costs a life, while collecting 100 rings grants an extra life.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Sonic Chaos?

Keep a small reserve of rings before entering unfamiliar sections, since a single hit removes the current ring supply. Learn where springs and loops lead before committing to high-speed routes.

Tails is useful for reaching elevated platforms and recovering from awkward jumps, while Sonic is better when a stage rewards momentum. Explore side paths for rings, monitors, and emerald-related opportunities, but slow down near blind drops and moving hazards.

Meet the cast

Who are the key characters?

1

Sonic the Hedgehog

The main playable hero. Sonic relies on speed, jumping, rolling, and spin-dashing to cross the zones.

2

Miles “Tails” Prower

The second playable character. Tails is slower than Sonic but can fly briefly by spinning his twin tails.

3

Dr. Robotnik

The recurring antagonist, who seeks the Chaos Emeralds and deploys machines and enemies against Sonic and Tails.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Use Tails when vertical reach or recovery is more important than raw speed.

  2. 2

Do not rush through blind drops; many hazards are placed immediately after fast sections.

  3. 3

Collect rings consistently because they protect against one hit and can provide extra lives.
