How it plays
How does Space Invaders play?
The player controls a defensive craft in a three-dimensional arena and shoots formations of aliens approaching from above or across the playfield. The main objective is to eliminate every enemy in a stage while avoiding projectiles and preventing the invaders from reaching the defense line.
Stages add different enemy patterns, hazards, power-ups, and tougher encounters. Progression is based on clearing successive areas, with improved weapons and temporary abilities helping against denser formations. The Nintendo 64 version is primarily a single-player arcade campaign; no additional mode is documented here.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play Space Invaders?
Prioritize enemies that are closest to the bottom of the arena, even when a different target is easier to hit. Keep moving in broad lateral arcs so enemy fire is less likely to connect, but avoid trapping the craft against the arena boundary.
Use power-ups when several enemies are grouped together or when a stage introduces a difficult formation. Learn each wave's movement pattern before committing to a fixed position, and reserve safe space for the final enemies rather than firing from a corner.
