How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. Players move through linear stages, defeat groups of street enemies and symbiote creatures, collect temporary power-ups, and reach a boss encounter at the end of each area.
Spider-Man emphasizes agility and web-based attacks, while Venom relies on heavier close-range strikes. A second player can control the other hero in cooperative mode. Progression is stage-based, with continued advancement depending on surviving combat and defeating bosses rather than character leveling.
Plan your run
Use the edges of the screen to avoid being surrounded, and keep moving when several enemies attack at once. Spider-Man is better suited to evasive play, while Venom can handle direct confrontations more effectively.
Save special attacks for dense enemy groups or bosses. In two-player mode, stay near your partner so enemies can be attacked from both sides without either character being isolated.

Spider-Man & Venom: Separation Anxiety is a side-scrolling beat 'em up developed by Software Creations and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It follows Spider-Man and Venom as they battle a symbiote threat connected to Carnage. The game supports solo play and cooperative two-player action, with each hero using different attacks and movement options. Players fight through urban stages, defeat waves of enemies, and face villains from Spider-Man’s comic-book world. Reception was mixed: critics generally recognized the appealing two-character premise and cooperative play, but criticized repetitive combat, uneven difficulty, and limited depth compared with stronger beat 'em ups of the period.
