Spider-Man
The playable superhero who uses agility, wall-crawling, martial arts, and web-based abilities to stop a criminal threat.
How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. Spider-Man advances through separately structured stages, defeating street-level enemies, navigating platforms, climbing walls, and confronting bosses based on characters from the comics.
Movement and combat are built around jumping, punches, kicks, web-based attacks, and Spider-Man’s ability to move across vertical surfaces. Progression is primarily stage-based rather than experience-driven; completing a level leads to the next area, with boss encounters providing major checkpoints.
Plan your run
Use vertical surfaces to control enemy positioning instead of fighting every opponent in open space. Wall movement can also help you avoid hazards and approach enemies from safer angles.
Conserve health by learning enemy attack timing and by using web attacks when direct combat is risky. Before a boss encounter, clear nearby enemies and identify safe locations for jumping or retreating.

Spider-Man is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Western Technologies and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. It places the player in control of Marvel’s wall-crawling hero as he fights criminals and supervillains across urban environments and other dangerous locations. The game combines platforming, hand-to-hand combat, web attacks, wall movement, and limited exploration. Its level-based structure reflects the design of many licensed 16-bit action games of the period. Reception was mixed: reviewers generally recognized the appeal of the license and the variety of Spider-Man’s abilities, while criticizing uneven controls, collision issues, and repetitive combat.
