How it plays
The main game uses a top-down perspective. Bomberman starts each stage with limited bomb range and capacity, then clears soft blocks to reveal power-ups and paths. Explosions travel in four directions until they hit an indestructible wall or a remaining block.
The adventure progresses through themed areas containing enemy groups, traps, special blocks, and boss fights. Defeating a boss advances the story. Battle mode places players in an arena where they use bombs, power-ups, and chain reactions to eliminate opponents.
Plan your run
Clear nearby soft blocks before moving deep into a stage, but always leave yourself an escape route. A bomb’s blast can travel through open corridors and return around corners, so do not treat a nearby wall as automatic protection.
Prioritize bomb capacity and fire-range upgrades when they can be collected safely. In battle mode, watch opponents’ bomb timers, use chain reactions to deny space, and avoid placing bombs that trap you unless you have a confirmed escape or a useful kick or punch option.

Super Bomberman 2 is a maze-based action game developed and published by Hudson Soft for the Super Nintendo. Players guide Bomberman through enclosed stages, placing bombs to destroy blocks, defeat enemies, and open routes toward an exit or boss encounter. The game combines deliberate grid movement with hazards created by the player’s own explosions, making positioning as important as aggression. Its main adventure is supported by competitive battle arenas for up to four players with the appropriate multitap. The sequel was well regarded for expanding the series’ presentation, stage variety, and multiplayer appeal while retaining the immediately readable rules that made Bomberman accessible.
