How it plays
The game uses a top-down perspective. In Adventure Mode, Bomberman moves through grid-like stages, places bombs to clear soft blocks and enemies, collects power-ups, and reaches the goal after satisfying the stage conditions. Bomb blasts travel in the four cardinal directions until blocked.
Progression follows themed areas with multiple stages and boss fights. Captured creatures can be ridden and may jump, kick bombs, or provide other specialized abilities. Battle Mode places players in enclosed arenas, where the objective is to eliminate opponents with timed explosions.
Plan your run
Start by clearing nearby soft blocks while leaving yourself a safe escape route. Bombs can be chained, but avoid placing one where its blast will cut off every path.
Use walls and blast timing to control enemy movement. In Battle Mode, save strong power-ups when possible, watch opponents' bomb ranges, and use kicked or thrown bombs only when you can predict the landing area.

Super Bomberman 4 is an action-maze game developed and published by Hudson Soft for the Super Nintendo. It follows Bomberman through compact arenas where bombs destroy obstacles, defeat enemies, and open routes toward the exit. The game combines a single-player adventure with competitive multiplayer. Its most distinctive feature is the ability to capture and ride dinosaur-like creatures, each providing different combat or movement advantages. The adventure is built around themed worlds and boss encounters, while Battle Mode supports local matches. It was released in Japan in 1996 and is generally regarded as one of the stronger late Super Famicom entries in the series.
