How it plays
The game alternates between isometric exploration and turn-based battles. Mario's party travels through towns, forests, castles, mines, and other areas, solving environmental puzzles and collecting equipment and items.
In combat, players choose commands for each party member, including attacks, special techniques, items, and defensive options. Timed button presses can strengthen attacks or reduce incoming damage. Experience raises character levels, while equipment and consumable items improve the party's capabilities. Party members can be changed outside or during battles when allowed.
Plan your run
Use timed commands consistently: pressing the button again at the correct moment can improve attacks and block damage.
Keep several healing items available, upgrade weapons and armor regularly, and distribute level-up bonuses according to each character's role. Explore side paths for hidden items and optional challenges.
