How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective for most stages, with players advancing from left to right while destroying aliens, machines, and enemy defenses. The objective is to reach each stage's boss and defeat it.
Players can run, jump, fire in eight directions, carry two weapons, and switch between them. Standard stages mix platforming with heavy enemy fire, while some missions use overhead viewpoints and vehicle-based battles. Progression is stage-based, with new areas and bosses unlocked in sequence.
Plan your run
Keep moving and fire continuously while watching enemy attack patterns. Preserve powerful weapons for bosses and crowded sections rather than spending them on isolated enemies.
In two-player mode, coordinate movement and avoid crossing into each other's firing lanes. Learn safe positions during bosses, and use controlled jumps instead of rushing through unfamiliar platforms.

Before you begin
The Spread Gun is especially effective against groups of enemies.
Hold a direction while aiming to maintain diagonal fire and control space.
Two-player cooperative play is useful for dividing targets, but accidental collisions can make movement harder.
Super Probotector is a run-and-gun action game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and published by Konami for the Super Nintendo. It is the European version of Contra III: The Alien Wars, with human soldiers replaced by combat robots. Players fight an alien invasion across ruined cities, military facilities, and other battlefields using rapid movement, jumping, and a selection of weapons. The game supports solo play and two-player cooperative play. It was widely praised for its responsive controls, varied stage design, impressive audiovisual presentation, and demanding difficulty, and is regarded as one of the strongest action games on the SNES.
