How it plays

How does Super Punch-Out!! play?

Each match places the boxer directly in front of an opponent. The goal is to score knockdowns, survive the round limit, or win by decision while avoiding damaging attacks.

Players move, duck, block, and throw left or right punches. Successful body and head shots fill a power meter; a full meter enables a stronger punch. Progression follows several circuits, with rematches and tougher opponents requiring faster recognition of feints, guards, and counterattack windows.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Super Punch-Out!!?

Study each opponent before attacking. Most openings follow a recognizable tell, so short defensive reactions are safer than constant punching.

  • Save the power meter for clear counterattack windows.
  • Use body blows to interrupt some attacks and head punches when an opponent is stunned.
  • Against charging or spinning attacks, prioritize dodging and punish the recovery animation.
  • Repeated patterns can change after a knockdown, so do not rely on only one response.
