How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective for most stages. The objective is to move through Tatooine, the Death Star, and other locations while defeating enemies, avoiding hazards, and reaching the end of each level.
Luke primarily uses a blaster and later gains a lightsaber, while Han and Chewbacca provide different shooting styles. Stages include on-foot combat, vehicle sequences, platforming sections, and boss battles. Players collect power-ups, health, ammunition, and weapon upgrades, then continue through a fixed sequence of increasingly difficult levels.
Plan your run
Learn enemy attack patterns instead of rushing through every screen. Stay mobile, fire diagonally when possible, and destroy enemies before they can surround the character.
Save stronger weapons and health recovery for difficult encounters. In vehicle stages, prioritize survival and memorize the safest route; in boss fights, look for repeated attack cycles and strike during their openings.

Super Star Wars is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by LucasArts for the Super Nintendo. It adapts the events of Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope, following Luke Skywalker from his early adventures on Tatooine through the Rebel assault on the Death Star. The game combines run-and-gun shooting, platforming, vehicle stages, and large boss encounters. Players can control Luke, Han Solo, and Chewbacca in different sections, each with distinct abilities and weapons. Its fast pace, detailed graphics, and aggressive difficulty were widely praised, although its challenge could be frustrating. It became one of the better-known Star Wars games of the 16-bit era.
