Directional inputs are used for movement, blocking, special moves, and charge attacks.
How it plays
Matches use a side-view arena and rounds are won by reducing the opponent's vitality before the timer expires. Players combine directional inputs with punches, kicks, throws, blocks, and character-specific special moves.
The main arcade route contains a sequence of international opponents followed by boss battles. Versus Mode supports local two-player competition, while Tournament and Team Battle modes provide additional match structures. Each fighter has distinct normal attacks, special moves, and Super Combo techniques.
Plan your run
Learn one reliable normal attack, one anti-air attack, and one special move before attempting advanced combos. Watch the opponent's movement and punish missed attacks rather than attacking constantly.
Use the training and versus modes to practice spacing, blocking, throws, and Super Combo timing. Charge characters should preserve the required directional charge while defending, whereas motion-based characters benefit from controlled forward movement.

Before you begin

Super Street Fighter II – The New Challengers is a one-on-one fighting game developed and published by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It expands the Street Fighter II formula with four new playable fighters, revised character animations, new stages, and additional balance changes. Players select a warrior, defeat opponents in international matches, and challenge the game's final bosses. The SNES version brings the arcade design to a home console with several selectable modes and a six-button control scheme. It was well received for its large roster, responsive controls, and strong competitive depth, although some arcade features and audiovisual details were limited by the hardware.
