Use the formation and down-and-distance situation to choose plays rather than repeating one successful call. Short passes and runs are useful for maintaining possession, while deeper routes are more vulnerable to pressure and interceptions.

On defense, switch to the defender closest to the ball and pursue from an angle instead of following directly behind. Protect the first-down marker, manage the clock late in each half, and avoid risky throws when field position is favorable.
